Sarkhej Roza in Ahmedabad City

Good monrning friends. Here are one of the Ahmedabad City pride. You can get relax when you got there. So mind peaceful place to stay with. Try to visit here.

The Sarkhej Roza is an graceful architectural creation amazing for the use of pierced stone trellises and complete absence of arches. Sarkhej Roza, the tombs of Saint Ahmed Khattu Baksh and that of Emperor Mehmud Shah Beguda and his queen. The diplomatic atmosphere makes it an ideal retreat. Sarkhej (about 10 kms. southwest of Ahmedabad) is noted for its stylish group of buildings, including the Mausoleum of Azam and Mu'assam, who were responsible for Sarkhej's architecture.

The architecture here is attractive because the style is almost wholly Hindu, with little of the Saracenic pressure so evident in Ahmedabad. As you go into Sarkhej, you pass the Mausoleum of Mahmud Begara and, beside the tank and connected to his tomb, that of his queen, Rajabai. Also by the tank is the Tomb of Ahmad Khattu Ganj Buksh, a renewed Muslim saint and spiritual adviser to Ahmed Shah. He was the revered saint whose blessings were invoked while origin Ahmedabad. The palace, with pavilions and a harem, is also around the tank.

The Roza of Sarkhej is very well-known. The architecture of the Roza is so attractive and the history of Roza is related with Ahmedabad. The main and big roza of Saint Ahmed Khatu Ganjbux is in the middle of the complex. There are attractive carvings on the walls and tombs. Traceries have been carved out in marble stones. The sunlight reflections create beautiful pictures. The buildings are remarkable for the complete absence of arches and the use of pierced stone trellises.

Pavagadh Hill - 2

Going back to pre historic times, the Champaner-Pavagadh ruin site is believed to have shown signs of Stone Age man. Thereafter, early communities were recorded to have lived in the area during 6th century AD. During the 7th century the site belonged to the Maitrak dynasty which ruled from the Valabhi regions of Gujarat. After the decline of the Maitrak rule in the 9th century, the region came under the influence of the Gurajar Pratihar and the Parmara rulers. In the 13th century the Kichi Chauhans, who were the direct descendants of the famous warrior King Prithviraj Chauhan of Rajastan. lay siege to the area.

It was in the 15th Century that Islamic influences were sighted in and around the area. The Muslim period began with Muhammad Begada defeating the Patai Raval clan that was ruling the area, and strategically moving his capital from Ahmedabad to the Champaner site. This step was taken in 1484 AD to thwart the threat of the Sultans of Mandu. It was Muhammad Begda who built the town and the famous fort of Champaner, the Vohra mosque, the Mandavi, the Kirtistambh, also the temple of Shalkh. Later he also added the Jama or Jami Masjid, the Nagina Mosque and the Kevda Mosque. The ruins of the Begda palace can be found near the Vad Talav or the Banyan Pond located two kilometers away from Champaner. The site was finally taken over by the mighty Mughal Emperor Humayun when he plundered the fledgling Champaner town in AD 1535. Ignored under the Mughal reign as a secondary town, Champaner lost its appeal as a place of power and as a capital city by 16th century AD.

Champaner is also home to the great 16th century Indian music maestro, Baiju Bawra. He was considered as a contemporary rival to Tansen, a distinguished musician and one of the nine jewels in Emperor Akbar’s court.

Pavagadh Hill - 1

Hello everyone! I am Dhirendra from Gujarat. I wanted all of you to travel with me wherever I go. There are many famous places here in our city. I wanted all of you to know them.

The Pavagadh hill is a famous place of pilgrimage situated in the Halol taluka of the district. The gods send so large a hill that three quarter of it filled up the hollow and the rest standing out of the plains was called ‘Pavagdh’ the quarter hill. In old inscriptions, the name of the hill also appears as ‘Pavakgadh’ or ‘fire-hill’. The first historical reference to the Pavagadh is in the writings of Chand Barot of the eleventh century, who mentioned Ram Gaur, the Tuar, as lord of Pava. Pavagadh is well-known as the strongest hill fortress of the ancient Gujarat, like so many hill forts in India.

The 15th century deserted capital of Champaner was first excavated by late professor R N Mehta of Maharaja Sayajorao University in 1969-75. Indian officials however took notice in 1987 when the World Heritage Trust commissioned an international study to conserve the remains of the ruins. A report to the study proposed the development of the site as an archeological park. A team from the University of Illinois has been set up to develop and manage the landscape of the Pavagadh site.

Akshardham Temple

I want you to travel along with me all the way. This will be exciting for you and me. I decided to travel in one of the temple in Ahmedabad where my place is.

As you look at this temple, it’s like you are in native place. Look at the specimen of fine craftsmanship, the Akshardham temple in Gandhinagar is one of the largest and most prominent temples in the entire state of Gujarat. Located in Gandhinagar city, the famous Akshardham temple is a place, which consists of a number of things under one roof like art, education, architecture, exhibitions and research. It is truly an architectural masterpiece.

Established in the year 1992, the Akshardham temple was built in the dedication of Lord Swaminarayan. The credit for laying the foundation of the famous Akshardham temple at Gandhinahar goes to the Bochasanwasi Akshar-Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS). The highlights of the temple consist of the seven feet long idol of Lord Swaminarayan, the chief deity at the Akshardham temple.

Made by using tonnes of pink stones, Akshardham temple is one of the most magnificent edifices of modern India. It measures 240 feet in length, 131 feet in width and 108 feet in height. This intricately carved imperial structure stands regally amid the green garden. Within the complex of Akshardham, lies a beautiful garden known as Sahajanand Van. On one hand, where its beauty lends it the look of a garden and on the other it serves as a park for kids. It encompasses a herbal garden, lake and a waterfall. There is also the ultramodern Akshardham Center for Applied Research in Social Harmony (AARSH). If you want to relax from the rush of the urban confusion then Akshardham temple at Gandhinagar surely is a place to be in.
