Alappuzha

If you want to see a lush greeny backwaters and a number of canals, you can find it here in Alappuzha. The Backwater of Alappuzha usually starts at Alapuzha and ends at Alapuzha. The boats can be hired from the Tourist Jetty near the bus station.

Alappuzha has an unusual feature of having the water in the level of the land. This gives the advantage of having a closer of the village life on the shore while on the backwater fringe. One of the beautiful sights you will see is the Palm fringed narrow canals winding through the vast expanse of paddy fields and the tidy hamlets lined up along both the sides of the canal. The backwater cruise you take on a round of the nearby villages which covers the main attractions of Alappuzha. These cover the places like the Mullackal town, the lighthouse near the beach, the paddy fields, the palm fringed shores and the temple of Alappuzha.
